The Stokes went on a festival tour in the Summer of 2010 and asked us to jump on board to design the entire show from top to bottom. We wanted to make something special for them so we designed the show around a couple of key elements; six chevrons and transparent mesh pixel curtain. We used the overall design to create a “stage within a stage” feel that allowed us to focus the attention on the band itself, which is usually a challenge with really massive festival stages. We also created the video content for the tour, which had a very low res Atari 8-bit graphic style to it in addition to designing the entire lighting for the show. The Strokes went on tour in the summer of 2010 and played 8 shows in Europe, a couple of festivals in the US including Lollapalooza and Austin City Limits and Australia. The design we created was very portable and full of a lot of varying aesthetics centered around the ability to color the chevrons and we were able to create a sense of depth through the use of the pixel curtain at the end of the stage.
